Orca Action Month brings together researchers, advocates, and orca lovers everywhere to raise awareness of the threats facing these magnificent animals and provide a community to celebrate orcas of the Salish Sea and space for community action that is necessary to recover Southern Resident orcas.
For 20 years, June has been proclaimed Orca Month by the Governor of Washington, and for the first time in 2016, Orca Month was celebrated in Oregon and British Columbia.
This year's Orca Month theme is Orcas Can’t Vote But You Can. The Orca Salmon Alliance has chosen to focus our theme on how our vote and collective action can make a difference in the lives of our beloved Southern Resident Killer Whales. To make change we need to believe in the hope that we can indeed be the catalyst for change.
Join us throughout the month of June for both virtual and live events. We’ll raise awareness and inspire action through events, social campaigns, and storytelling. Together, we'll explore the magical ways orcas connect us and how we can protect the future we share.
Be sure to keep an eye on our events calendar and explore the activities offered for all ages!
